Fragility via Robustness of Controllers Dedicated to the Congestion Control in Internet Protocol

چکیده
Success of a control design is usually measured by the robustness and optimality of the controller obtained, however, these designs can produce extremely fragile controllers, in the sense that small perturbations of the coefficients of the controller can destabilize the closed loop system. In previous papers, we have described several approaches, such as modern control theory, the norms H2/H infinity, Kharitonov approach and Quantitative feedback Theory, for the design of robust and optimal controllers developed for the treatment of the congestion control problem in Internet Protocol. In this work, we show by examples that optimum and robust controllers designed should aware those contemplating the design of real systems using these methods.

During the last years, the Internet Application (Remote Flexible Control and Instrumentation, Telecontrol...) has retained the attention of Control researchers for modeling and studying the congestion control of TCP/IP (Transfer Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) networks. متن کاملDynamic Homeostasis in Packet Switching Networks
In this study, we investigate the adaptation and robustness of a packet switching network (PSN), the fundamental architecture of the Internet. We claim that the adaptation introduced by a transmission control protocol (TCP) congestion control mechanism is interpretable as the self-organization of multiple attractors and stability to switch from one attractor to another. To discuss this argument...
متن کاملModeling the Internet Congestion Control Using a Smith Controller with Input Shaping*
The Internet has shown a great capability of endless growing without incurring congestion collapse. The key of this success lies on its TCP/IP congestion control algorithm. In this paper we use control theoretic analysis to model the Internet flow and congestion control as a time delay system. We show that the self-clocking principle, which is known to be a key component of any stable congestio...

The aim of the paper is to present the Delta 20 Fragility-Rings plot and its use for robustness-fragility analysis of proportional integral (PI) and proportional integral derivative (PID) controllers. Using the Delta 20 Fragility Index and the Nyquist plot it shows the areas on the L(jω) plane corresponding to robustness-fragile, robustness-non-fragile and robustnessresilient controllers provid...

Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs) involve a convergence of biosensors, wireless communication and networks technologies. WBSN enables real-time healthcare services to users. Wireless sensors can be used to monitor patients’ physical conditions and transfer real time vital signs to the emergency center or individual doctors. Wireless networks are subject to more packet loss and congestion. T...
